SSA #32
79th Street Special Service Area 32
Safety and Security
SSA#32 provides essential programs and services
for the Auburn Gresham Business District
One of our main priorities is safety for our shopping district.
SSA #32 utilizes a Security Patrol to enhance the sense of security along the 79th street corridor. We also encourage business owners to adopt some or all of the following top five basic and effective safety measures.

Top Five Safety and Security Measures

-
Lighting- Install "non-glare" lighting to your store and connected areas (entrances, exits, parking areas, windows, and sidewalks.
-
Security doors, shutters, and cameras - Installing proper security doors and shutters will not only provide an increased sense of security and safety, but it can also provide protection from weather damage and other potential damages.
-
Participate in Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy (CAPS)- Establish and nurture partnerships with the local CAPS chapter and beat officers to work in unison to develop strategies to resolve area concerns.
-
Support the SSA #32 Security Patrol- Our private security patrol provide regularly scheduled runs in the business district, respond to business owner calls and concerns and handle security-related issues via an established protocol. They are easily identifiable by their SSA decals located on their patrol cars.
-
Advertise Store Safety and Rules on Conduct- Post your safety and conduct rules in a highly visible location in your store. This helps customers know what behavior is accepted and expected in YOUR store and that they will be respected while shopping your business. This helps to deter loitering outside your store, encourages appropriate dress (e.g. no shirt, no shoes, no service), or customers speaking loudly on the phone while being serviced.
We are here to help! Feel free to contact your SSA #32 Manager and let us know your concerns or suggestions to improve the district. We strongly encourage you to attend our open SSA #32 Meetings and learn more about our programs and services.
This is "YOUR" business district and both you and your customers deserve the very best services possible. We look forward to working with you to help develop your business and enhance their customer experience.
